Mithi River ke desilting scam me Mumbai Police ki Economic Offences Wing (EOW) ne do contractors ko arrest kiya hai. Investigation me pata chala hai ki saalon tak forged documents, inflated bills aur BMC ke storm-water management system me collusion ke through bada financial fraud chalta raha.
Girftar kiye gaye accused hain: Sunil Upadhyay, Director – SNB Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Mahesh Purohit, Partner – MB Brewers Firm
Dono ne allegedly BMC se crores me payment le li, lekin ground par silt-removal ka kaam hua hi nahi.
EOW ke mutabik accused ne: Fake MoUs banaye, Landowners ke forged signatures use kiye, jinke plots ko “launch pads” dikhaya gaya Yeh documents BMC ko submit kiye gaye, jisse inflated bills raise karke payments li jaa sakein. Investigators ko lagta hai ki scam 2013 se 2023 tak ek organised network ke through chalta raha — contractors, middlemen aur BMC ke SWD department ke kuch officials milkar.
