47 NTA officials dismissed; criminal proceedings to follow; entire system undergoing overhaul

Amidst student outrage over the paper leak and ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar, the central government has taken a major decision. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has dismissed 47 officials in connection with the NEET paper leak case. Furthermore, criminal cases will be registered against the dismissed officials. This move is part of a large-scale restructuring of the NTA. Just a day earlier, on Thursday, the government had replaced two secretaries within the Ministry of Education. According to officials, changes will be made to the outsourcing system, and technical improvements will be implemented to ensure the absolute security of examinations and to create a testing system that leaves no room for paper leaks; the NTA will appoint four senior general managers and 16 young professionals through the UPSC’s ‘Pratibha Setu’ portal.
