The political atmosphere in Punjab is heating up ahead of the upcoming elections. A new controversy has emerged from Sheron village in Sangrur. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had arrived there on Wednesday to address a public meeting when Mohanjeet Singh, a social activist campaigning against drug abuse, staged a protest against the event. Singh climbed onto the roof of a nearby house and began shouting slogans against the Punjab government, expressing his dissent by displaying a black cloth. Police personnel present at the scene took immediate action and detained him as a precautionary measure. After his release from custody, Mohanjeet Singh leveled serious allegations against the police, claiming he was brutally beaten while in their custody. The police have also issued a statement regarding the incident; according to them, Singh has a criminal history, yet they had released him after due verification.
