Amritsar: AAP Sarpanch’s son shot dead outside Gurdwara; attacked while leaving after offering prayers; investigation intensified

With assembly elections approaching in Punjab next year, concerns regarding law and order in the state have begun to emerge. In Cheete Kalan village of Amritsar, Tirath Singh—the son of an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Sarpanch—was shot dead. According to reports, Tirath Singh was leaving the Gurdwara Sahib after offering prayers when 3 to 4 assailants surrounded him and opened fire. His friend, Ranjeet Singh, was also injured in the incident and has been admitted to a hospital. The perpetrators fled the scene following the attack. The police have registered a case and intensified the investigation; efforts are underway to identify the assailants using CCTV footage.
