Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Women have taken center stage in politics ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Following the Yogi government’s lead, the Samajwadi Party (SP) made a significant strategic move on Wednesday by announcing an annual pension of ₹4,000 for women under the ‘Stree Samman Samriddhi Yojana.’ The party also made several other major announcements benefiting women and girls. Furthermore, the SP has expanded the scope of its existing ‘PDA’ political narrative; within this framework, the letter ‘A’ now also stands for ‘Aadhi Aabadi’ (women). Notably, the BJP is also actively working to strengthen its electoral base through schemes targeting women and girls. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi approved proposals for free bus services for elderly women, the distribution of scooters to 50,000 girls, hostels for working women, and free tablets for 2.5 million students. Now, the SP has also unveiled a series of announcements with a specific focus on this demographic.
