“Chinese vehicles enter Indian territory” – Indian Army debunks claims; BJP expresses outrage

A video featuring Chinese commercial vehicles, along with a fabricated video of Lieutenant General Girish Kalia, has become a subject of widespread discussion in the country—prompting a fact-check by the Indian Army. Ritu Chaudhary, a Congress spokesperson in Bihar, shared a post claiming that “Chinese vehicles have entered Indian territory,” adding that the video was “going viral rapidly.” Separately, an AI-generated video of Lieutenant General Girish Kalia also began circulating on social media, with claims that his statements were authentic. The Indian Army addressed both instances: regarding the first video, the Army clarified that it showed Chinese commercial vehicles at the Nathu La Pass in Sikkim—a designated India-China border trade point. As for the video of Lieutenant General Kalia, the Army released the original footage to expose the fabrication. In its statement, the Army explained that the original footage was from a press briefing held on October 27, 2023, in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, which addressed infiltration attempts across the Line of Control. The Army further clarified that the officer made no such statements regarding Chinese control over Arunachal Pradesh, nor did he claim that the Indian Army had refused to accept supplies.
