Congress plays politics over BRICS; BJP says the party cannot digest India’s growth

The 18th BRICS summit is taking place in New Delhi under India’s presidency. However, amidst the BRICS summit, domestic politics has also heated up. Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram questioned whether previous BRICS summits had yielded any tangible results. Subsequently, Salman Khurshid—considered a close aide of Rahul Gandhi—defended Chidambaram’s statement. The BJP accused the Congress of spreading negativity regarding a major international platform like BRICS. Targeting the Congress, BJP MP Sambit Patra remarked that the party is unable to digest India’s growing strength and development.
