Drug users ko sirf saza dene ke bajaye drugs ki supply chain todne par focus ho: Supreme Court.

Supreme Court ne kaha hai ki narcotics supply chain ke aakhri sire par maujood drug users ko sirf mujrim samajhkar saza dene ke bajaye drugs ki supply rokne aur suppliers ke network ko todne par zyada dhyan diya jaana chahiye.

9 October 2026 ko Justice J.B. Pardiwala aur Justice K. Vinod Chandran ki bench ne Sanjana Bhaskaran vs State of Telangana maamle mein ek mahila ke khilaaf NDPS Act, 1985 ke tahat chal rahi prosecution ko khatam kar diya. Mahila par ek college ke paas do logon se ganje ka packet lene ka aarop tha, lekin police ke mutabik uske ya uske bag se koi drugs baramad nahi hue the.

Court ne kaha ki sirf co-accused ke bayaan aur alleged confession ke aadhar par is maamle mein prosecution jaari rakhne ka koi fayda nahi tha. Court ne yeh bhi chetavani di ki trial se pehle jail mein rehne se drug users aise logon ke sampark mein aa sakte hain jo unhe drugs ke karobaar mein aur aage dhakel sakte hain.

Isliye court ne drugs ki availability rokne aur supply chain todne par zor diya. Yeh faisla is mahila ke case ke facts par aadharit hai; iska matlab yeh nahi ki sabhi drug users ko kanooni karwai se chhoot mil gayi hai.
