Electricity Workers’ Strike in Haryana Ends Following Meeting with CM Saini
Desk: The 25-hour-long strike by electricity workers in Haryana has finally come to an end. The employees had been on strike to protest the granting of a power distribution license to a private company in Gurugram and Nuh. The decision to call off the strike was announced following a meeting with Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Power Minister Anil Vij. The government has recommended that the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) review the matter with a view to potentially cancelling the private company’s license; however, the question remains: will the government’s assurance be enough to fully address the demands of the electricity workers?
