Following the killing of an ASI, a Head Constable has been shot dead in Chandigarh; a country-made pistol was recovered from the house, and an investigation is underway.
The shooting death of Head Constable Nitin in Chandigarh’s Sector 22 has caused a stir. The 42-year-old Nitin was posted in the Accounts Branch at the Police Headquarters in Sector 9. On Friday morning, the sound of a gunshot was heard from his government quarters, prompting neighbors to alert the police. Upon arrival, the police found Nitin’s body on the bed; he had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Nitin’s wife, Monika, and his 18-year-old son, Arman, were present in the house at the time of the incident. The police have begun questioning the son, as inconsistencies have reportedly emerged in the initial statements. A country-made pistol was also recovered from the roof of the house during the investigation. The police and a forensic team are examining the weapon and all other evidence found at the scene.
