Ganga Devi’s body remains unrecovered 48 hours after the Agra Subhash Bazar tragedy; family’s patience wears thin
Even three days after the collapse of a two-story clothing shop built over a drain in Agra’s Subhash Bazar, the body of 60-year-old Ganga Devi has not been recovered. While five other people trapped in the debris were rescued immediately, the woman was swept into the drain due to heavy rain and the collapsing rubble. Teams from the SDRF, Fire Brigade, and Police conducted a four-hour rescue operation but found no trace of the missing woman. Local shopkeepers, holding the Municipal Corporation responsible for the accident, surrounded the Municipal Commissioner upon his arrival at the site and raised slogans. The family’s patience is also running out; although there were moments of heated anger, they eventually calmed down following police intervention. The family has demanded that the administration recover and hand over the body.
