‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb’ (syncretic culture) was witnessed in Varanasi on Guru Purnima as Muslim devotees received ‘Guru Diksha’.
A unique and inspiring scene reflecting the ‘Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb’ emerged from the Patalpuri Math in Varanasi on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima. At a ceremony held under the guidance of Jagadguru Balak Devacharya, over 100 Muslim devotees received ‘Guru Diksha’ and the ‘Guru Mantra’, and participated in ‘Guru Puja’ and ‘Aarti’ in accordance with Sanatan traditions. Devotees arriving from several districts—including Varanasi, Ghazipur, and Mirzapur—expressed their reverence for the Guru while conveying a message of social harmony, brotherhood, and unity. While many of the devotees were already disciples of Mahant Balakdas, others received ‘Guru Diksha’ for the first time.
