The havoc caused by floods in Bihar continues to escalate. Lakhs of people across more than 12 districts in the state have been affected. Several rivers—including the Ganga, Kosi, Gandak, Bagmati, Punpun, and Ghaghara—are flowing above the danger mark. In Bhagalpur, floodwaters have reached the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University campus; ground-floor rooms are submerged, and boats are being used to navigate the university premises. Meanwhile, in Patna, the Punpun River is flowing nearly three meters above the danger mark. Amidst the flooding, the administration is engaged in relief and rescue operations, striving to deliver essential supplies and services to the affected population. Concurrently, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall from September 8 to 10.
