Haldwani ‘purification’ incident reaches High Court; key observations made—Congress stages major protest

The issue regarding the alleged ‘purification’ ritual—performed at Haldwani’s Ramlila Maidan following a public rally by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge—has now reached the Uttarakhand High Court. The Court has ordered an independent and impartial investigation into the incident and directed that CCTV footage and other evidence be preserved. Petitioner’s counsel Rakshit Joshi stated that a ‘purification yajna’ was conducted at the venue after Kharge’s rally; they had sought an independent probe, and in response, the Court has directed the government to conduct an impartial investigation.
