High-voltage drama marked the first day of the UP Assembly’s monsoon session, with the BJP and the opposition clashing over the theft of Ram Mandir offerings.

Intense political uproar was witnessed on the very first day of the session. The Samajwadi Party and the Congress staged protests outside the Assembly against the Yogi government, raising issues such as the theft of Ram Mandir offerings, the NEET paper leak, and concerns affecting farmers and the youth. Slogans like “Chanda Chor Gaddi Chhod” (Donation thieves, step down) were raised; SP workers arrived carrying donation boxes and loose change, while SP MLA RK Verma appeared wearing a kurta covered in written messages highlighting their grievances. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed for a meaningful discussion on public issues within the House, while the BJP hit back, accusing the opposition of insulting Lord Ram.
