Insulting Vande Mataram now a ‘crime’, punishable by 3 years
The central government is going to bring a big research bill on ‘Vande Mataram’. Now insulting Vande Mataram can be punished with imprisonment of up to three years and fine. In fact, the government is going to bring a research bill on this in the monsoon session. This bill is likely to be tabled in Parliament on Tuesday. It is reported that Union Home Minister Amit Shah may present this bill on the floor of the House. This bill proposes to amend the ‘Prevention of Insult to National Honor Act, 1971’, which so far only made insulting the national anthem ‘Jana-Gana-Man’ a punishable offence. Now Vande Mataram will also be added by researching it.
