Chaos erupted as the Kaumi Insaaf Morcha and Nihang groups marched towards Chandigarh to demand the release of ‘Bandi Singhs’ (Sikh prisoners). Protesters gathered in Mohali attempted to advance towards Chandigarh, prompting the police to set up heavy barricades to halt them. When protesters tried to break through the barricades, the police deployed water cannons and fired tear gas shells. During the confrontation, some protesters pelted stones at the police, while Nihang protesters were seen brandishing swords. In light of the situation, security has been stepped up at the Chandigarh-Mohali border, and traffic movement on several routes has been disrupted.
