Maharashtra mein 14 July 2025 ko ek bada bandh dekha gaya jab Indian Hotels and Restaurant Association (AHAR) ke call pe 90% bars aur permit rooms ne liquor sales suspend kar diya.
is ek din ke bandh se state government ko ₹80 crore ka revenue loss hua. Yeh protest June 2025 mein approved liquor rate hike ke khilaaf tha, jisme excise duty 60% badha, VAT 5% se 10% hua, aur license fees mein 15% ka izafa kiya gaya.
AHAR President Sudhakar Shetty ne kaha, “Yeh tax regime industry ke liye death blow hai.” Yeh industry, jo ₹1.5 lakh crore ka hai, 20 lakh jobs aur 15 crore tourists ko support karti hai
