Major overhaul of Madrasa education: Move to halt Kamil-Fazil degrees; proposal before the Cabinet
Preparations are underway for significant changes to the Madrasa education system in Uttar Pradesh. In compliance with a Supreme Court order, the Yogi government is introducing a proposal to amend the Madrasa Education Board Act, 2004. Under the proposal, instruction in Madrasas could be limited to the Class 12 level, with higher education degrees to be obtained from recognized universities. The BJP and the opposition are at odds over this decision.
