Minor gang-raped near Delhi’s Kalkaji Temple; one arrested, two at large

A shocking case of the gang-rape of a 17-year-old minor girl has come to light from Aastha Kunj Park, near Delhi’s Kalkaji Temple. It is alleged that three youths posed as police personnel to intimidate the minor and her friend, then took the minor to a secluded spot and raped her. The police have arrested one of the accused, Asif, following an encounter in South-East Delhi. According to the police, the accused fired three rounds during the arrest attempt; one bullet struck a head constable’s bulletproof jacket. In retaliatory fire, the accused was shot in the leg and subsequently admitted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS and the POCSO Act. A search is underway for the remaining two accused, with the police attempting to track them down using CCTV footage and other evidence.
