Mumbai ke pet lovers aur stray animal caregivers ke liye BMC ne pet owners, animal feeders, housing societies, schools, aur tech parks ke liye detailed guidelines issue kiye hain. Yeh rules Supreme Court ke orders aur Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) ke Animal Birth Control Rules, 2023 pe based hain, aur inka maqsad hai human-animal conflicts ko reduce karna aur animals ka welfare ensure karna

BMC Ke Key Guidelines for Pet Owners:
Mandatory Licensing: Sabhi pet dogs ko BMC ke paas register karna compulsory hai under Section 191B of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888. Bina license ke dog rakhna illegal hai.
Pet Hygiene aur Safety: Pets ko clean, vaccinated, dewormed, aur preferably sterilised rakhna hai. Public places mein dogs ko leash pe rakhna mandatory hai, aur pet owners ko apne pet ke poop ko clean karna hoga, warna ₹500 ka fine
Public Spaces Mein Access: Housing societies pets ko lifts ya common areas mein ban nahi kar sakti. Alternate lifts suggest kiye ja sakte hain, lekin complete ban illegal hai.
Responsible Ownership: Aggressive behavior wale pets ko address karna hoga. 18 saal se kam umar ke bacche akele dogs ko walk nahi kar sakte.
Stray Animals Ke Liye Rules:
Feeding Allowed: Koi bhi person ko stray dogs ya cats ko feed karne se rokna punishable offense hai. Feeders ko designated spots pe hygienic feeding karni hai, away from kids’ play areas, staircases, ya entry/exit points.
Feeding Guidelines: Raw meat ya leftover food nahi dena hai. Feeding early morning ya late evening mein karna better hai jab public movement kam ho. Feeders ko strays ki sterilisation aur vaccination mein help karni chahiye.
No Relocation: Stray animals ko unke area se relocate karna illegal hai. Sterilised aur vaccinated animals ko wapas unhi jagah pe chhodna hai.
Housing Societies, Schools, aur Tech Parks Ke Rules:
No Ban on Feeding: Societies stray feeding pe ban nahi laga sakti. Designated feeding spots aur timings set karne honge.
Animal Welfare: Schools aur tech parks mein stray animals ko chase karne ke liye security ya sticks use karna illegal hai. Feeding spots banane honge.
Conflict Resolution: Agar disputes hote hain, toh 7-member Animal Welfare Committee final decision legi.
