Mumbai Police cracks down on cyber fraudsters; 7 arrested for ₹400 crore scam involving fake SIM cards

The Mumbai Crime Branch has busted a gang of cunning cyber fraudsters who swindled people by opening bank accounts under various aliases and obtaining SIM cards using others’ identities. These SIM cards and bank accounts were utilized for transactions linked to cyber fraud. As the investigation progressed, a Goa connection to the gang emerged, leading the Crime Branch to arrest seven accused individuals. The police are currently investigating the entire network and the transactions associated with the alleged fraud. The accused were produced in court and have been remanded to police custody until September 24.
