Onion price surge halted in Delhi; first ‘Kanda Express’ arrives with 450 tonnes from Nashik

After sugar, onion prices are now bringing tears to the eyes of the common man during the festive season. However, the government has now stepped in to curb this price rise. The first ‘Kanda Express’ has departed from Nashik, Maharashtra, carrying 450 tonnes of onions bound for Delhi. The government is releasing onions from its buffer stock to make them available in major cities at a subsidized rate of ₹35 per kilogram. This initiative, which began in Delhi, will now extend from the NCR to other major cities across the country.
