Political row over ‘Vande Mataram’ intensifies; Venugopal and Jairam state: “Congress will sing only the two verses decided in 1937.”
A meeting of the Congress Working Committee was held in Delhi. Following the meeting, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal stated that issues such as examinations and the alleged theft of Ram Mandir donations are currently at the forefront in the country. Clarifying the party’s stance on ‘Vande Mataram’, Jairam Ramesh and KC Venugopal explicitly stated that the Congress would sing only the initial two verses of the song.
