Poster war in Raebareli ahead of PDA Rath Yatra; BJP counters Akhilesh’s ‘Krishna’ poster with ‘Mafia’ jibe

The political poster war in UP has intensified ahead of the 2027 assembly elections. Amidst Akhilesh Yadav’s PDA Rath Yatra in Raebareli, posters welcoming him depicted him in the avatars of Lord Krishna and Lord Ram. In response, the BJP targeted the Samajwadi Party and Akhilesh Yadav by putting up posters featuring images of Azam Khan, Atiq Ahmed, and Mukhtar Ansari. The posters bore the slogans: “Azam, Atiq, and Mukhtar—they were the ones who ran the government” and “Akhilesh’s mafias, mafias’ Akhilesh.” Amidst the competing narratives of the PDA versus law and order and the mafia issue, the political atmosphere in UP is already heating up for the 2027 elections.
