On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi wrote on social media, “Modi government ministers are saying that the Delhi Police should be praised. Just half a kilometer away from Parliament, pellet guns were fired at peaceful students, and lathis studded with nails were used; one boy lost an eye, and a girl had her ear severed. Should this brutality be praised? I have personally met those injured youths. The country has seen thousands of videos. The core mantra of this government is falsehood and violence. First, lathi-charge the children, then claim nothing happened at all. Amit Shah remained ‘missing’ throughout the session, avoiding the opposition. And the Prime Minister has not apologized to the students to this day. The truth is that the biggest threat to this country is these people who are devoid of sense—who neither see their own mistakes nor admit to them when pointed out. Do not lie to the country’s youth; they have eyes and memories too.” As soon as Rahul Gandhi posted this on social media, reactions from the BJP began to pour in.
