SAD DEMISE
Mazoon-e-Dawat (the highest ranking official under the Dai) Syedi Husain bhaisaheb Husamuddin passed away at the age of 100 (according to the Islamic calendar) at his residence at Saifee Mahal, Mumbai early in the morning on Tuesday the 7th of February.
Born in Gujarat, Syedi Husamuddin was the second son of the 51st Dai al-Mutlaq, Syedna Taher Saifuddin. The 53rd head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin had appointed him to the position of the Mazoon a few months after the passing of the 52nd Dai, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin in 2014, whom he had served as the Mukasir for a number of years.
He was the Head Amil (Representative) of Syedna in Mumbai for a for more than 20 years and as such was the President of Anjumane Shiate Ali, the organisation charged with administering the communities affairs in Mumbai.
Syedi Husain bhaisaheb Husamuddin was a well-known religious scholar and continued to impart knowledge to members of the community till the very end.
Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin led the Namaz-e-Janaza of the late Syedi Husamuddin saheb at Saifee Masjid at Bhendi Bazaar and was laid to rest at the Nariyal Wadi cemetery in Mumbai
Thousands of Dawoodi bohras many of whose lives have been touched by his kindness gathered in Mumbai to join the Janazah namaaz and pay their pay their last respects to Syedi Husamuddin saheb.
