Shafiq’s wedding in Bihar has become the talk of the town; he took the wedding procession on a boat and brought the bride back on one too.
The dread of floods, surging waves, and vast expanses of water all around—yet love knows no storm. Such a story has emerged from Katihar, Bihar, where a wedding procession traveled by boat amidst the floods to fetch the bride. The incident took place in Kathotiya Kaliganj village within the Manihari block. There were no vehicles or paved roads available for the procession, but the groom, Shafiq, was unwavering in his resolve. Instead of postponing the wedding, he turned a boat into his ‘groom’s carriage.’ Adorned in wedding finery, the groom and his guests set out; in place of a convoy of cars, a flotilla of boats cut through the waters toward the bride’s home. Anyone who witnessed this procession—gliding proudly amidst the floodwaters—was left spellbound.
