Shraddha Kapoor cast with Aamir Khan in Thugs of Hindostan? Alia, Vaani also considered
Aditya Chopra seems to have roped in Shraddha Kapoor to play the lead role opposite Aamir Khan in Vijay Krishna Acharya's period drama Thugs of Hindostan.
Ever since Yash Raj Films announced the project last year with an explosive star cast of Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, there were multiple names thrown up for the leading lady of the film. Zee News reports that Aditya's personal choice was Vaani Kapoor whom he recently directed in his 2016 romantic comedy Befikre.
But the same report suggests that Khan was keen on having Alia Bhatt on board since the young actor won the Best Actress in a Leading Role Filmfare Award this year for Abhishek Chaubey's 2016 film Udta Punjab. Also, Khan has collaborated with Alia's father filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt in two popular films — Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin in 1991 and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke in 1993. He has also acted opposite Alia's elder sister Pooja Bhatt in Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin and Ashutosh Gowariker's 1993 directorial debut Pehla Nasha. Also, Alia's brother Rahul Bhatt recently trained Khan for his Fat to Fit transformation for his role of a Haryanavi wrestler in Nitesh Tiwari's wrestling biopic Dangal last year.
Deccan Chronicle reports that Kriti Sanon was then considered for the role opposite Khan in Thugs of Hindostan. Now, Bollywood Hungama reports that Chopra was impressed by Shraddha's look test and he signed her for the film. The same report also suggests that there is no official confirmation on whether or not she has been signed yet.
However, if she is signed, this will be her first collaboration with Khan, who has worked with her father Shakti Kapoor in two films — Rajkumar Santoshi's 1994 comedy Andaz Apna Apna and Kalidas' 1992 disaster Isi Ka Naam Zindagi.
Not many people know that Shraddha has already shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan, that too in her very first film — Leena Yadav's 2010 heist film Teen Patti. However, it is not sure whether she will do so again in Thugs of Hindostan.
Shraddha's first look in the upcoming period drama, Apurva Lakhia's Haseena, was appreciated by her fans. It will be interesting to see her in yet another period film. Also, this will be her second collaboration with Chopra after Luv Ka The End, which was produced by Y-Films, a subsidiary of Yash Raj Films.
