Sonam Wangchuk ends 26-day hunger strike; what demands were agreed upon with the government?

Social activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his hunger strike late Thursday night after 26 days. He made this decision following a meeting with Union Minister JP Nadda and Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh. Wangchuk stated that 65 Members of Parliament from various political parties had urged him to call off the fast, either by meeting him in person or writing to him. Sonam Wangchuk had begun the hunger strike on June 28 in support of the protest at Jantar Mantar—led by the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP)—against the NEET paper leak. In the interim, he had been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital after his health deteriorated.
