SP’s ‘Blue Move’ Ahead of 2027; BJP Calls It Vote-Bank Politics

Desk: Ahead of the 2027 assembly elections, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has updated the dress code for its student wing, incorporating blue T-shirts and blue jeans. This ‘blue move’ by the SP is being viewed as a strategy to strengthen the ‘PDA’ equation—comprising *Pichhda* (Backward Classes), Dalit, and *Alpsankhyak* (Minorities)—and to specifically expand outreach to Dalit and youth voters. Akhilesh Yadav has linked the color blue to ideology, democracy, the Constitution, and the *Bahujan* community. Meanwhile, the BJP and its allies have questioned this move, describing it as an attempt to appropriate the BSP’s signature color and woo the Dalit vote bank. In essence, alongside the color red, blue has now emerged as a new subject of political debate in Uttar Pradesh politics leading up to 2027.
