Student protests continue in Jharkhand; plans to lay siege to the Legislative Assembly today; CBI probe emerges as the primary demand.
A major show of strength by students is set to take place today in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The student movement, driven by various demands and allegations of irregularities in competitive examinations, is steadily gaining momentum. The agitation—which began on July 25 in protest against alleged malpractices in JPSC and JSSC recruitment exams—has now escalated to a planned siege of the Legislative Assembly. With the sixth round of talks with the government ending inconclusively, students remain adamant on their key demand: a CBI inquiry. Since this morning, crowds of students in Ranchi have been preparing to march towards the Assembly. Students from various districts across Jharkhand have arrived in the city via buses, trains, and other modes of transport. To manage the crowd, the administration has implemented vehicle checks and set up barricades at several locations.
