Trump Blames Immigration Policy for Riots in France; Claims He Had Warned Macron
US President Donald Trump has attributed the violence and protests in France to immigration policy. Taking aim at French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump claimed that he had warned him years ago against allowing large numbers of migrants into the country. Trump remarked that Paris is on the verge of becoming a “Muslim city”—a development he suggested should not have been permitted. He further advised France and Italy to tighten control over their borders.
French officials, however, state that extremist groups are active behind the recent violence, and that the protests are driven by issues such as the state of schools, inflation, and the rising cost of living.
