Uproar over threats to Kashmiri Pandits: Farooq Abdullah targets LG; BJP hits back hard

Politics in Jammu and Kashmir has heated up over alleged threats being issued to Kashmiri Pandits. National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has termed these threats a major ‘conspiracy’ and raised serious questions regarding the LG administration. He asked why senior Hindu officials—such as DIGs, DGs, SPs, and DCs—deployed in Kashmir are not receiving threats if Hindus are specifically being targeted. He alleged that the aim behind these threats is to prevent Jammu and Kashmir from regaining full statehood and to create an atmosphere of fear. The BJP launched a scathing counter-attack against Farooq’s allegations and strongly condemned his statement. Meanwhile, the Congress and PDP supported Farooq’s questions and expressed concern over the safety of Kashmiri Pandits.
