Vijay Mallya claims he is not a fugitive and that Britain has prevented his return to India; debate over his homecoming reignites.
Vijay Mallya is back in the headlines with a new statement. Residing in London, Mallya accused the Indian government of injustice, asserting that he is not a fugitive and that British legal processes have prevented him from returning to India. Furthermore, referencing the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), he remarked that he felt he “should become a cockroach.” Citing an affidavit by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Mallya also claimed that ₹14,131.60 crore could be recovered from his assets. Meanwhile, his return to India remains a major issue, given the backdrop of Kingfisher Airlines’ outstanding bank loans of approximately ₹9,000 crore, his departure from the country in 2016, and his subsequent declaration as a fugitive economic offender in 2019.
