Violent Clashes in Nagaon By-election: BJP and Congress Workers Clash; Allegations of Stone-Pelting at Gogoi’s Convoy

Nagaon, Assam: A violent clash has been reported between BJP and Congress workers during campaigning for the Nagaon by-election. Tensions escalated at Baram Bazar in the Samaguri Assembly constituency after a Congress convoy was shown black flags and subjected to slogan-shouting. The Congress alleged that stones and bottles were hurled at the convoy as it was returning from a public meeting, while reports indicate that some Congress workers were beaten up. CRPF and police personnel had to resort to a lathi-charge to bring the situation under control, and two suspects have been detained.
