When Ajit Doval stated that freedom does not mean doing whatever one pleases, the opposition retorted that this principle applies to the government as well.

Ajit Doval’s statement has sparked significant discussion and intense political debate. Speaking at an event in Pune, Maharashtra, on Saturday, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval commented on the protests held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Advising the youth, he remarked, “Today’s younger generation perhaps believes that India has always been this way. It is possible that young people think freedom means doing whatever one wants, whereas that is not what freedom actually meant.” Opposition leaders have responded to this statement, noting that Doval is right—the government, too, should not have such unfettered freedom.
