Who represents the ‘real’ TMC? Mamata Banerjee questions why Ritabrata Banerjee is being granted so much time.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to the Election Commission, urging it to expedite the inquiry regarding the ‘real Trinamool Congress’ and conclude the proceedings—initiated based on Ritabrata Banerjee’s complaint—without granting any further extensions. In her letter, Mamata Banerjee stated, “In accordance with the Election Commission’s directives, I submitted my response to both the Commission and Ritabrata Banerjee via email and speed post on July 6, 2026. Conversely, the Commission granted Ritabrata Banerjee additional time to respond—initially until July 10, and subsequently, upon accepting his plea, extending the deadline by 15 days to July 25, 2026. Even after the extended deadline of July 25 has passed, no response has been received, making it evident that the opposing party has no rebuttal to the arguments presented. Repeatedly extending the deadline is merely providing Ritabrata Banerjee and his associates an opportunity to fabricate false evidence.”
