A political standoff has intensified in Delhi over a rally by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, scheduled ahead of Diwali. The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has written to Rahul Gandhi, requesting the postponement of the INDIA bloc’s mega-rally, which is set to take place at Ramlila Maidan on November 1. Traders argue that the rally, occurring during the peak Diwali season, could disrupt footfall in markets and hinder business operations. The CTI has expressed concerns that trade worth approximately ₹10,000 crore could be impacted, and has suggested that the rally be rescheduled for after ‘Bhaiya Dooj’—that is, after November 10. Meanwhile, the BJP has targeted the Congress, questioning the choice of date for the rally.
