The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill has been passed. Madhya Pradesh has become the fourth state in the country to do so, following Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and Assam. Amidst this, the unease among Maulanas and Qazis regarding the UCC has become increasingly evident. Addressing a press conference in Bhopal on Tuesday, Shahr Qazi Syed Mushtaq Ali Nadvi demanded that the government withdraw the UCC bill. He stated that there has been anxiety within the Muslim community ever since discussions on the bill began. He alleged that a conspiracy is afoot to strip Muslims of the legal freedoms guaranteed to them by the Constitution through the UCC.
