A massive surge of faith from the Sangam to the Saryu on Sawan Purnima; crowds of devotees throng Prayagraj and Ayodhya.
On the auspicious occasion of Sawan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan, a massive tide of faith is visible, stretching from the ‘Sangam City’ of Prayagraj to the ‘Ram City’ of Ayodhya. Since early morning, huge crowds of devotees have gathered at the ghats of these holy rivers. In Prayagraj, devotees took a holy dip at the Sangam and along the banks of the Ganges, while in Ayodhya, lakhs of devotees arrived at the Saryu ghats to bathe, offer charity, and perform prayers. Crowds began gathering at the Sangam area in Prayagraj early in the morning to mark the full moon day (Purnima) of the holy month of Shravan. Devotees took a holy dip at the Sangam and the Ganges ghats, followed by the performance of rituals and prayers in the presence of priests.
