After the ‘Red Corridor’, the focus shifts to the ‘Drug Corridor’; Shah vows to eliminate the drug menace just as Naxalism was tackled.

During his visit to Goa, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the government’s major strategy to combat drug abuse. Shah stated that the problem of narcotics would be tackled with the same resolve used to address Naxalism. He noted that those who once envisioned a ‘Red Corridor’ stretching from Tirupati to Pashupatinath have laid down their arms and joined the mainstream. The government’s focus is now on creating a drug-free India. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Drug-Free Youth for Developed India’ (Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat) campaign, the government has set a target to intensify the drive against drugs over the next three years.
