Bodies drifting from Nepal into India; three recovered in UP’s Maharajganj
Sudden floods in Nepal have caused widespread devastation across the country. The bodies of people swept away by the waters are drifting into Indian towns; three such bodies have now washed up in the Gandak River in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh. Two of the deceased are women. An SSB rescue team used a motorboat to retrieve the three bodies from the river and sent them to the district headquarters’ mortuary. The SSB team was conducting continuous surveillance and relief operations along the banks of the Gandak River when the personnel spotted the bodies drifting in the strong current. The team immediately deployed a motorboat to reach the spot and safely recovered the bodies. You can also see in the images how the bodies drifted in.
