Bulldozer action took place late Tuesday night in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh as part of a road-widening project. Encroachments falling within the project’s scope—specifically for widening the Max Hospital Road—were removed. During this operation, the Madina Masjid also came under the scope of the action, sparking protests from local residents. Upon hearing the news regarding the mosque, Shoaib Jamai, the Delhi state president of AIMIM, arrived at the site around 2 AM with his party workers. Police stopped him from proceeding further, leading to a heated exchange with police officials. While local residents questioned the timing of the operation (conducted at night), the administration maintained that the move was part of the road-widening and anti-encroachment drive. Reports indicate that the project aims to widen the road to approximately 30 meters, and similar anti-encroachment drives have been carried out in the area previously.
