Congress objects to the full version of ‘Vande Mataram’; NC gives a blunt response, while BJP also goes on the offensive.
National politics has once again heated up over ‘Vande Mataram’. This time, the spark of controversy originated in Jammu and Kashmir, and interestingly, the Congress party’s own alliance partner, the National Conference, has distanced itself from the party’s stance. The full version of ‘Vande Mataram’ was played during an international film festival event in Srinagar on Monday. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah were present on stage, and both were seen standing in respect throughout the song. However, the Congress subsequently raised questions regarding the full version and urged its ally, the National Conference, to align with the party’s position. The Congress has expressed objection to the full version of ‘Vande Mataram’.
