India’s star judoka Asmita Dey created history at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. In the women’s 48kg final, she defeated Canada’s Heidi Quach 2-1, securing India’s first-ever gold medal in judo at the Commonwealth Games. This victory marks a historic milestone for Indian judo. Following her win, Asmita Dey dedicated the gold medal to everyone who supported her during her struggles. She also expressed her gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated her on this historic achievement.
