The center of the cyclonic storm ‘Murasu’ has moved past Andhra Pradesh toward Telangana. However, the danger to the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh has not yet passed. Due to the storm, heavy rainfall and strong winds continue across several districts, including Vijayawada, Chirala, Prakasam, and Palnadu. Winds reaching speeds of 120 km/h have caused widespread destruction—uprooting thousands of trees, damaging hundreds of electricity poles, and destroying numerous boats. Heavy rains have left roads submerged, while in Tamil Nadu, the operations of several express trains were disrupted for hours. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall and strong winds in the southern coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh for the next 12 hours.
