Deadline for SIR in Delhi Extended; Final List to be Released on December 22

The Election Commission has extended the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Delhi by 26 days. Voters can now submit claims and objections—including requests for the addition of names to the electoral roll—until November 25. In the draft electoral roll for Delhi, the names of 47.56 lakh individuals have been removed, while only 2.75 lakh people have applied for the inclusion of their names so far. Claims and objections will be processed by December 15, and the final electoral roll will be published on December 22. The decision to extend the deadline has also intensified political friction between the Congress and the BJP.
