Demolition Drive in Ujjain for Road Widening: Action Taken Against Illegal Structures Including Hotels and Restaurants
The administration’s drive regarding road widening and proposed development projects near the Mahakal Temple in Ujjain is ongoing. In the Muslim-majority Begambagh area, action is once again underway to remove over a dozen illegal commercial structures using bulldozers and Poclain machines. According to the administration and the Ujjain Development Authority, the plots in question were originally allocated for residential use; however, in alleged violation of lease terms, establishments such as hotels, restaurants, dairies, guesthouses, chicken centers, and other shops were being operated there. The demolition drive has resumed following the vacation of stay orders by both the lower court and the High Court.
