Double blow of drought in Jalna: Rain fails and crops wither; soybean, cotton, and grape crops suffer
Jalna, Maharashtra: Drought has devastated farmers in Jalna. In some areas, standing soybean crops have dried up before the pods could fill with grain, while in others, cotton flowers and bolls are shedding. Even Kadvanchi—Jalna’s renowned grape-growing hub—is desperate for every drop of water. Farmers have demanded immediate financial assistance from the government, along with arrangements for fodder and water.
